At LFW yesterday I was completely blown away by John Rocha's
AW 12 collection. I have been to alot of his shows,
this one was by far my favourite. "Drawing inspiration from beloved
memories of Hong Kong's Happy Valley Race Track and the patterns and colours of
Sean Scully's canvasses", Rocha's palate consisted of (no prize for
guessing..)mostly black, but also the regal colours of deep green, navy, logan and
gold in royal velvet, taffetas, satins and silks. These, combined with John's
sport-luxe silhouettes, fascination with structure and texture (which consisted
of a lot of fur and lace), dark makeup and un-brushed hair he has once again managed
to create a feel of effortless elegance and beauty.
